OVERVIEW
What is Fungal Nail Eradication?
Fungal nail infections (onychomycosis) can cause nails to become thick, discoloured, brittle, and difficult to manage. They are surprisingly common and can be persistent, often resisting traditional topical treatments. Laser fungal nail eradication is a safe, non-invasive treatment that uses targeted laser energy to destroy the fungus at its source — without harming the surrounding nail or skin.
Unlike antifungal creams or oral medications, laser treatment works directly on the infected nail bed, delivering heat energy that destroys fungal cells. There are no systemic side effects and no need for a course of tablets, making it an excellent option for those who prefer a drug-free approach
THE PROCESS
What the Treatment Involves:
Using an Nd:YAG laser, light energy is directed through the nail plate and into the underlying nail bed. The laser heats the area, effectively destroying the fungal cells while leaving the surrounding tissue unharmed. The procedure is precise, controlled and well-tolerated — clients usually feel only mild warmth or a gentle tingling sensation during the session.
Each session typically lasts around 20–30 minutes, depending on how many nails are being treated. Both toenails and fingernails can be treated. The treatment area is cleansed beforehand and no anaesthesia is required.
Sessions & Frequency
A course of 3–4 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart is usually recommended. Because nails grow slowly, visible results take several months as the healthy nail grows through. The number of sessions may vary depending on the severity of the infection and the number of nails affected.
Downtime & Aftercare
No downtime at all — normal activities can be resumed immediately after treatment. To reduce the risk of reinfection, clients are advised to keep feet dry and clean, wear fresh socks daily, disinfect footwear regularly, and avoid walking barefoot in communal areas such as swimming pools or changing rooms.
